In the past we’ve taken on a project of total renovation of a villa in Sweden. That surely was a rewarding journey, to rebuild and recreate the whole space.

Renovating a villa in Sweden
You’ll need time to make a complete renovation of a villa, and we made sure to plan for this. This house was of 161 square metres on a plot of 730 sq m, and all of it went through improvements.
FACTS
- 161 square meters of living space
- Spacious main entrance with plenty of storage
- Kitchen with large opening to living room
- Open living room that accommodates both a dining group for 8 and a sofa group
- 4 bedrooms, 3 downstairs and 1 upstairs
- Corridor with stairs with entrance to 3 bedrooms, laundry room and bathroom with shower. Exit to the roofed veranda
- The upstairs family room is large and spacious, has 4 windows. Possible to build more bedrooms here. Two cat closets for storage
- Bathroom with bathtub and large chest of drawers
- Large bedroom with storage in the form of a walk-in closet and two cat fans

The whole villa go new surfaces and walls and all windows was refreshed. The bathrooms in white and grey were completed in 2021. The kitchen completely finalized early 2022.
With a good location next to a forest area with a playground, this classic 70s villa area is located just outside the center of Gävle. Most residents here have a car, which can be parked in parking areas, or in this case right in front of the house.
Ground floor

Mudroom / Main entrance
Leading inwards to passing the kitchen to the dining area in the living room. The opening was widened, from holding a standard door making this room feel too closed in.
New flooring and paint on the walls, was added by a custom built bench and a closed cabinet for the water heater. Also the front door was repainted inside and outside, to prolong its lifetime.

The living room fits both a large dining area as well as a comfy family area with sofa and TV.

The kitchen
by widening both the general width of the room as well as the two door ways leading here we got a spacious place with room for many.
Materials all from IKEA, except the faucet, dishwasher and fridge.

The largest bedroom on the ground floor got a fresh closet wall, floor to ceiling in matte white.

The second bedroom downstairs was styled as a kids room.

The third bedroom was used by the former owner as a storage, with built in storage of wood. We demolished it all but salvaged the large wood pieces and re-used them on various places around the house. Finalizing the room we staged is as an office.
Outdoors
The old veranda/out door room was improved by new coats of paint and a new roof, later styled with comfy dining furniture.

Around the heater/cooler unit, originally placed in the outdoor room/veranda, was conveniantely covered in wood painted in the same paint and color as the house itself.

Upper floor
The living room on the upper floor is spacious and could be converted into more bedrooms. This was decorated for adults with an interest in art as the ceiling lighting was excellent to use for a gallery wall.

Master Bedroom
The bedroom upstairs has a double bed, an the room itself is the largest bedroom of the house.
The bedroom has its own walk in closet (behind a curtain). Just outside of the bedroom door is the larger bathroom with a full bath.

The walk-in closet with its floor of linoleum had a terrible color, so the floor was painted with quality floor paint.
